Mother’s Day was founded in 1905. When Anna Jarvis found out her mother died she wanted to commemorate a day to honor Mother’s and how much they sacrifice for their children. That’s when she came up with the idea of this national celebration. The year 1908 held the first festivity at a Methodist church in West Virginia. Later, Anna set up a campaign to make this a national holiday. It became a holiday in many states by 1912 and was made an official holiday in 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson.
